Musings
To the child that has never seen blue sky
what can you say?
you tell them of the blue that stretches across
fluffy white clouds like fairy floss
or a bubble bath
a sun that blazes with the fury of a million fires
but what can you say when the see only grey clouds?
stretched across
dismal, dark, ominous black
will they not begin to doubt?
will they not begin to wonder why this beauty is denied to them?
will they not close their eyes
wishing to see blue?
and open them again only to find miserable grey
and yet they know it is blue
a truth told to them by so many
but while their brain knows this
their heart knows only grey
are we not the same as this child?
limited by our lack of experience
our hearts cannot fathom something we know to be true
but cannot feel
and we wander alone in a mist of pretense
so separated
each not knowing the lack of one's heart in the other
what can you say?
you tell them of the blue that stretches across
fluffy white clouds like fairy floss
or a bubble bath
a sun that blazes with the fury of a million fires
but what can you say when the see only grey clouds?
stretched across
dismal, dark, ominous black
will they not begin to doubt?
will they not begin to wonder why this beauty is denied to them?
will they not close their eyes
wishing to see blue?
and open them again only to find miserable grey
and yet they know it is blue
