A Poem for Lyndal

Would that I could be your God...

but I can't heal your heart inside,
only He, the one who died
to take your sorrow, heal your pain,
shoulder your burdens, and cover your shame.

Unfathomable love that lies in my heart,
yet His love was there from before the start.
And so intense His love for you,
He died...but rose alive!! Anew!!

And as I see and watch your pain,
I wish that I could break those chains.
Alas! I know it cannot be-
there's only one, and that is He!

It may take time: I'm here to stay!
to nurture, love, and guide your way.
I can't be your God, but I will be your friend-
I promise that will never end.
