Lioness

Pacing within herself
boiling over
she can feel it in the depths of her being
rising up
water from a spring
overflowing
bubbling furiously beneath the surface

she's caged within herself
teeth that rip
claws that tear
talons that wish to lash out and draw blood
to scream at everyone around
to fight and lash out
break free from invisible bonds

all contained in so small a vessel
her eyes flash
and she sits peacefully
while bubbling rage tears her apart inside

Musings

To the child that has never seen blue sky
what can you say?
you tell them of the blue that stretches across
fluffy white clouds like fairy floss
or a bubble bath
a sun that blazes with the fury of a million fires

but what can you say when the see only grey clouds?
stretched across
dismal, dark, ominous black

will they not begin to doubt?
will they not begin to wonder why this beauty is denied to them?
will they not close their eyes
wishing to see blue?
and open them again only to find miserable grey

and yet they know it is blue
a truth told to them by so many
but while their brain knows this
their heart knows only grey

are we not the same as this child?
limited by our lack of experience
our hearts cannot fathom something we know to be true
but cannot feel

and we wander alone in a mist of pretense
so separated
each not knowing the lack of one's heart in the other

Trust

I stand
before
a great white frozen lake
paper thin ice
that cracks at the touch

I stand
on
a tall great cliff
a single cotton thread
my only road to hope

I reach out my hand
scared to take that step
terrified the thread will break
the ice will crack
send me to oblivion

I step out
you take my hand
I'm clinging to you
(dear God, don't let me fall)

Easter Picture- LoveBlood on the Cross

I drew this on the 4th of April, don't know why, it just popped into my head and I felt like drawing it. It was originally just in black and white, but I decided tonight to colour it in- it just adds a bit.
I'm not a very good drawer, so this is probably not the best choice of a first post, but since it's easter, I may as well. By the way, it's called "Love Blood on the Cross".
